Do I really need a direct outlet for my pool filter?
The pool store says I would need an outlet installed next to the pool area. They say an extension cord would burn out the motor after a small amount of time..it's a 1hp motor. The pool is not installed as of yet, but they tell me I would need a direct outlet and I cannot use an extension cord. I can't see why I wouldn't be able to use a heavy (super heavy) duty extension cord. I have an outlet on the outside of the house not far from the pool, should I have the filter set up near it or should it really be next to the pool. The pool will probably be less than 25ft from the house outlet to the where the pool will be set up. It is a sand filter, not a cartridge. We use to have a cartridge filter back in the 70's and my parents had a really long extension cord running from that one to our home. Im new at doing this myself so any help is apprectiated. thanks in advance.
if you get a really heavy duty cord it could be ok as long as the plug outlet you plug into has a GFI . a direct plug outlet is the best way to go with a GFI.i am doing that right now
