How can i clear up my cloudy swimming pool?

We have a 24 foot round above ground pool.
I have never had any trouble with my pool.I keep it clear, but we went camping in June and i turned off my pump and came home to a green pool.I have no clue how it got that way that fast. Not just algae growing on the sides and bottom,..The water was completely green also..
I used Algacide and vaccumed the bottom and have added plenty of chlorine, but now its milky and cloudy and i cant seem to get it clear.I recently bought clarifier and added it ..It didnt help.My pool is clean and dont look like theres any algae growing now. It's just not clear.
We have a great filter system and i backwash often.I've never had this problem before..

Any help?

The cloudy watere is caused by the dead algea floating in the water. Go to the store and get some stuff called Flocculant. Different stores have different name brands, but they will know what you are talking about. Some types allow the particles to settle to the bottom and some types allow the particles to float. Make sure you get the kind that settles to the bottom. Put the product in your pool and run filter on recirculate for 3 hours. Turn pump off and allow to sit for 48 hours. Once the particles settle to the bottom, just vaccum them out on waste. Hope this helps. I just went through the same thing.
