NAMCO Pool Filter

The Namco pool filter is one of the best filters you can buy

Namco, America's largest dealer in swimming pools, services 40 different East Coast retail stores from their 200,000 square foot distribution center.

They are recognized by the National Pool and Spa Institute as a member in good standing.

What began as a small family business has now blossomed into several of their own retail stores and an online purchasing site.

Blue Shield chemical products have been exclusively manufactured since 1975 solely for NAMCO®.

Their products have been used by over 250,000 pool owners and are continuing to provide high quality service to many more.

One of the items available both in stores and online is the NAMCO filter.

They offer three different types of pool filters: Sand, D.E. and Cartridge.

Each one operates a bit differently.

No matter which filter you purchase, always make sure to read the directions regarding assembly, operation and maintenance in order to get the optimal use from your pool filter.

Sand filters use specially graded sand designed to trap particles in the 20-100 micron range.

The efficiency of a sand filter actually increases as it collects dirt.

A sand filter will need to backwashed periodically for optimal efficiency.

The sand in the filter will also need changed after a period of time.

NAMCO® also offers the D.E., or Diatomaceous Earth Filters, which is the most efficient on today's market.

It traps particles the naked eye is unable to see (down to 3-5 microns).

This type of filter requires the owner to add D.E. powder periodically in order to coat the filter grids contained inside the filter tank.

The filter grids should be thoroughly cleaned on an annual basis.

The powder dissolves in the pipe on its way to the filter tank and once it reaches the fabric-covered grids, the powder stops and the grid is coated.

The water easily passes through, but the dirt gets trapped in the caked-on powder.

The third type of filter NAMCO® offers is the cartridge filter.

This is the type of filter that many people choose to use in smaller above ground pools.

Spas utilize this style of pool filter as well.

The cartridge filter element traps particles and dirt of about 25-100 microns in size, much like the air cleaner in your vehicle.

When the gauge gives the owner notice, the cartridge is removed and hosed down to remove the dirt.

It need only be replaced about every 2 to 5 years.

A Namco pool filter can be found at over 40 retail stores on the East Coast.

They do have online ordering available, but the only filter available there is a 2 HP 2-Speed Horizontal Replacement Pump which sells for $279.99.
